Muthu Kumaran is a Consultant with Central Chambers. “Kumaran” as he is affectionately referred to, brings with him more than 20 years of legal knowledge and experience to augment further, the resources already available at Central Chambers.
Kumaran’s diverse areas of practice included all forms of Civil, Commercial & Corporate Litigation, Conveyancing and Conveyancing Related Litigation. Before joining Central Chambers he was one of the lawyers for the UOB and Standard Chartered Bank conveyancing 'reciprocal panel'. He has handled the real estate issues for R.E.I.T. transactions. Kumaran possesses a wide experience
in building & construction matters, bankruptcy & insolvency Intellectual Property and ADR
(Arbitration & Mediation). He now specialises on advisory work in these different areas of the Law.
The numerous appointments that Kumaran has held are as follows:
- Since 1997 is a member of MSIArb (Arbitrator).
- Since 1999 is a Mediator on Consumer's Association of Singapore [CASE]'s Panel of Mediators
- In 2002 was Lead Counsel of the CASE Task Force against 'Bucket Shops'.
- Since its inception in 2004 is a member of the CP(FT) A [Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act] Panel, sand since 2007 its Vice-Chairman.
- Since 2008 is a member of CTAC [CASE Trust Advisory Council].
Acting as Counsel to other lawyers in Singapore and Malaysia is something that Kumaran continues to do. He currently serves as consultant for off-shore projects and developments as part of Legal Knights, a Legal Consultancy that he is involved with.
Kumaran has over the years been assisting wide-ranging business clients ranging from listed companies (both local and international) down to small family businesses and start-ups.
