Kok Wye was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1997 and admitted to the Singapore Bar the following year.  His initial years were spent in the Courts as a civil litigator. Thereafter, he developed a preference for corporate and commercial practice through his experience as an in-house counsel of a multi-national corporation. He spent about 4 years as in-house counsel. That period saw his involvement in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements and advising the company on corporate and commercial matters.

Prior to joining Central Chambers Law Corporation, Kok Wye was involved in the corporate finance aspects of companies and corporations. He acted for companies and issue managers in relation to Initial Public Offerings of both local and foreign companies seeking listing on the Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Limited (“SGX”). He had previously also held concurrently, the office of company secretary to 6 publicly listed foreign and local companies. In that role, he functioned as their legal advisor in corporate governance matters. More importantly, he was overseeing various corporate matters such as share placements, share buy backs, acquisitions and realisations in compliance with the SGX Listing Manual and the Rules of Catalist.
